Font Pairing and Layout Basics for Non-Designers

Good design for most creators is not about talent but about a few repeatable rules for type and spacing that make anything look intentional.

Think of two posts with the same words, where one feels effortless and the other feels cramped. The only difference is a few simple choices.

Start with two fonts: one for headlines with personality and one clean font for body text, since a serif heading over a sans body is a classic pairing that always works.

Then give your layout room to breathe by increasing space between lines and sections. Limit yourself to two or three colors and one alignment so the eye knows where to land. Restraint is the fastest path to a polished look, and once you master these basics, your work looks designed even when it is not.
